On Doing What You Like..Life is Short

I have found it more important to paint what I like, rather than try to paint “For the Market” or what I think will sell..even if that means that I don’t sell much.

It all depends on your needs and what will make you happy. I know now that business often ruins art. Just look at modern art since the 1960’s up until now. The words spoken about the art and its “provenance” has become more important than whatever form the art takes…such as a red dot on a large canvas selling for $1 million, or even a blank canvas selling as “conceptual art”.

When everything has been done, we will all be “kitsch”… When AI and robots are doing all of the jobs, everyone on the planet will be an artist.
